How to create peace
Have faith-peace is always present.
Like this moment after a yoga class where Jaylin, her mom, and I found comfort in simply sitting together. Peace is all around us, we only need to cultivate the act of allowing it in.
Have you been distraught, stressed or just irritated by the deluge of screaming media, social unrest, pandemic instability, and political shenanigans? It's becoming obvious that peace cannot be won in an argument.
Peace cannot be legislated by law. Peace cannot be forced by violence. Peace cannot be signed into sure action with a treaty.
For peace to be a reality we must be brave to go within. Every day.
We have been ignoring the wise insight of teachers like Gandhi who taught and demonstrated how the power to change the world must also be cultivated within.
“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. ... We need not wait to see what others do.” -Mahatma Gandhi
Social, political, and inner transformation must work together. If you don't do anything--no meditation, quiet contemplation, spiritual counseling, time in nature--there will be no change.
But if you practice cultivating peace in your heart and life, then combine that with action.
Well...then we'll truly be on the path to creating a peaceful world. Be peace. Take action.
Peace is always present. Cultivate it in yourself and then get busy sharing it with the world.
