Teaching Yoga for Free-why every teacher should do it

One of my adult yoga students brought these flowers for our altar. After our class ended I brought the dogs in from the kennels and Zoë made a beeline for the bouquet! I think she could feel all the good juju in the room!

I’ve been doing some grassroots yoga teaching this fall; simply inviting people to my house for a free class a few times a month. It’s been really rewarding to teach so freely; just students and a teacher moving beyond poses to explore the full scope of yoga.

Keeping our peace and elevating our consciousness is a big challenge in these crazy days of the 21st century. I know that the simple work of opening my home and my heart to share what I’ve learned (and am still learning!) is the the best way I can serve. What a beautiful service we all could provide if we focused on keeping our peace! In moments of crises we all look to those who embody compassion and equanimity. I practice every morning to help me live my yoga and I teach for free in order to share with others how they can be the peace our world craves.

Always sending you peace and love! Om Shanthi Shanthi Shanthi
